MBM can bring significant additional value, help protect fee revenues and reduce the risk of disputes and PI claims.

Major consultants, such as civil engineers, typically have a primary design function particularly in civils based works. MBM’s practical experience of large civils, utilities and infrastructure projects, gained on such projects as Jubilee Line Extension Project, Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Gatwick Airport and M25 allows us to provide services that support the role of the consultant.

Consultants nowadays have to be far more commercially astute, often managing the commercial aspects of their work in accordance with specific terms and conditions, such as the NEC Professional Services Contract. Such contracts require effective commercial management to monitor matters of value, cost, programme and change. This may not be a consultant’s primary area of expertise. MBM can help by advising, setting up and implementing appropriate procedures to protect fee entitlements, ensure contractual compliance and reduce the risk of potential PI or other claims.

Such contracts do not just exist between Consultant and Employer, but also between Consultant and Contractor where the two parties may be engaged in a design and build relationship.

Our programming and scheduling expertise also allows us to assist consultants monitor contractors’ progress, analyse and manage the effect of change and review and analyse entitlements to an extension of time in an objective and independent manner.

Our practical experience of working for contracting companies means that we are ideally placed to give insightful advice to consultants as to the merits of any particular situation.
